Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a 1:1 SEND Support Assistant in North Shields to support a pupil with additional learning and communication needs. The role focuses on enabling access to learning, building confidence and promoting progress within a nurturing classroom environment.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and multidisciplinary team to tailor support, monitor progress and provide feedback to staff. DBS Enhanced registration is required or to be obtained.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND in school, care, nursery or community settings.
• Knowledge of ASC, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH or related needs.
• Patient, caring and resilient, with adaptable approach to individual pupils.
• Willingness to apply for Enhanced DBS on Update Service if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support throughout the school day.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
• Support pupil with SEND and related needs to access learning.
• Encourage independence while providing appropriate guidance.
• Build positive relationships with pupil, families and staff.
• Collaborate with teachers and SENDCo to implement learning strategies.
