Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEND Support Assistant in North Shields to support a pupil with additional learning and communication needs. The role focuses on enabling access to learning, building confidence and independence within a nurturing school environment.

You'll work with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider multidisciplinary team to tailor learning approaches and monitor progress, with a view to potential permanent opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND in school, care, nursery or community settings.
• Knowledgeable or experienced supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH or other additional needs.
• Patient, caring and resilient with the ability to adapt to individual needs.
• Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support throughout the school day.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of the pupil.
• Support pupils with SEND, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH or other needs.
• Encourage independence while providing the right level of guidance.
• Build a positive relationship to promote confidence and engagement in learning.
• Work with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider staff to implement personalised learning and support strategies.
• Use a patient, nurturing approach to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff on achievements and development.
