Job summary

Aspire People are recruiting for Learning Support Assistants at a Specialist SEND College in the St Helens area. The role is long-term, full-time with hours 8:30am-4:30pm and pay from £14 per hour.

You will provide 1:1 support to students with SEND, helping them develop academic, practical and employability skills within a supportive college setting. The post offers a dedicated SEND-focused consultant, access to SEND-specific CPD and opportunities across college, primary and secondary SEND

Qualifications

• Experience in SEND, education, care, support work or similar environments.
• Patient, compassionate and resilient.
• Confident supporting young people on a 1:1 basis.
• Committed to safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
• Desire to help students develop independence and life skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised 1:1 support to students throughout the college day.
• Support students with their academic learning and development.
• Help students access practical and vocational activities.
• Support communication, confidence and social development.
• Encourage independence and life skills.
• Support students within the café, animal centre, workshops and outdoor areas.
• Help students develop employability and preparation-for-adulthood skills.
• Support emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour.
• Work closely with teachers and the wider support team.
• Help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual goals.
