Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Wakefield is seeking a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs in a welcoming primary school. The role offers flexible part-time hours and school day alignment to 8:15am–3:30pm, with weekly pay and competitive daily rates.

This position provides opportunities across EYFS and Primary with Enhanced DBS support and ongoing consultant guidance to help you grow within SEND education.

Qualifications

• Have experience supporting children with SEN.
• Have previous experience working within a primary school setting.
• Hold a Level 2 Childcare qualification (desirable).
• SEN-related training or qualifications (advantageous).
• Knowledge of the KS1 and/or KS2 curriculum.
• Be passionate about helping children reach their potential.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong safeguarding and child welfare understanding.

Responsibilities

• As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated one-to-one support to pupils with Special Educational Needs.
• Deliver personalised learning and intervention programmes.
• Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
• Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing.
• Monitor and record pupil progress.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to ensure pupils receive the support they need.
• Support small group activities when appropriate.
