Job summary

Engage Education is working with a secondary school in Mid Sussex to recruit a Learning Support Assistant. The role involves 1:1 support for learners, including pupils with Autism and ADHD, to help them access the curriculum.

Applications are welcome from candidates with a range of experience, including youth workers or behaviour mentors, and from those aiming to move into teaching. The role starts in September 2026 with flexible full‑time or part‑time options.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students aged 5-11 or 11-16.
• Ability to manage behaviour confidently.
• Ability to build professional relationships with students.
• Fun but firm presence with an interest in education.
• Experience as SEN teaching assistant or aspiring teacher is welcome.

Responsibilities

• 1:1 support for learners with differing needs, including Autism and ADHD.
• Support pupils in accessing the national curriculum.
• Build positive, professional relationships with students and staff.
• Maintain a structured, supportive classroom presence.
