Job summary

Refine Education in London is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support a single pupil with complex needs and PMLD in a secondary school. You will help with non-verbal communication methods and assist in sensory and learning activities to enable participation and independence.

Successful candidates will have patience, resilience and strong communication skills to liaise with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and families. DBS and Right to Work are required.

Qualifications

• Patience, resilience and the ability to build trust with a pupil who communicates without words.
• Experience supporting a pupil with complex needs or SEND is desirable.
• Right to work in the UK and a DBS certificate are required for eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated, individual support to a single pupil in a secondary school setting.
• Assist the student in using non-verbal communication methods (Makaton, PECS, symbols, objects of reference).
• Support the pupil's sensory, physical and learning needs and help them participate in school life.
