Prospero Teaching is currently seeking a teaching assistant with experience supporting SEN in Early Years. This is a full-time role starting after Easter.

The strongest applicants will have confidence in leading a group of children in the absence of their teacher, conducting reading and writing sessions, and will possess good behavioural management skills.

CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS

  • Location – sK8 Early Years Teaching Assistant
  • Position – SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Type of work – Long Term from April 2025
  • Duration / Likely Duration – ongoing
  • End date (if applicable) – End of the academic year, ongoing
  • Contract type – Ongoing
  • Minimum rate of pay – £104 per day minimum
  • Hours – 8:30 am – 3:30 pm

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Teaching Assistant qualification or higher/equivalent
  • Previous experience working in a UK school
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable but not essential; some training is provided)

This role is based in the Hive, our alternative provision for complex needs pupils, including non-verbal autistic children in years 1 or 2. The role involves intimate care, as one pupil wears nappies and requires changing when necessary. Activities focus on speech and language targets, sensory play, and occupational therapy. Tasks are limited due to the children’s high needs.

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child-related references
