Job summary

Justteachers Ltd in Great Yarmouth is partnering with a welcoming Primary School to recruit a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term role starting September. You will provide targeted support to two pupils with SEN and help them access learning in a nurturing classroom.

The role focuses on developing independence, confidence, and engagement, working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement effective strategies and ensure an inclusive learning

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEN (autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or SEMH) is desirable.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with children.
• Flexible and proactive attitude towards supporting learning.
• Ability to work as part of a wider school support team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Two recent education-based references.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to two pupils with SEN throughout the school day.
• Support pupils' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
• Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
• Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement effective support strategies.
• Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement with learning.
• Support communication, interaction, and emotional regulation where required.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
• Build strong and positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.
• Follow and contribute to IEPs, EHCP targets, and support programmes.
• Promote the wellbeing and development of both pupils at all times.
