Job summary

Prospero Teaching are recruiting a dedicated Behaviour Support Mentor for a mainstream primary school in Chard. You will provide 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN and challenging behaviour, helping them stay engaged and ready to learn.

You will implement behaviour plans, use personalised strategies and support emotional development through trauma‑informed approaches, working closely with teachers and external professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with behavioural needs or SEN.
• Ability to stay calm, patient and nurturing with pupils.
• Strong commitment to inclusive practice and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN and behavioural needs.
• Help pupil stay regulated, engaged, and ready to learn.
• Implement behaviour plans and personalised strategies.
• Support emotional development with trauma‑informed approaches.
• Collaborate with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.
• Create a safe, supportive environment that promotes inclusion.
