Job summary

Engage Education is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Support Mentor for a SEMH school in Preston. This full-time, term-time role focuses on personalised 1:1 and small-group mentoring to help students overcome barriers to learning and build confidence.

You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support individual needs, manage emotions, and develop resilience in students with SEMH challenges.

Qualifications

• Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs, additional needs or challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Providing tailored 1:1 support for students with SEMH needs.
• Supporting students in small group sessions to develop learning, social skills and confidence.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with young people.
• Helping students manage emotions, regulate behaviour and develop coping strategies.
• Encouraging engagement with learning and school routines.
• Supporting students to develop resilience, independence and self-esteem.
• Acting as a positive role model and trusted adult.
• Working alongside teachers and the wider pastoral team to support individual needs.
