Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a compassionate 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support a Year 8 pupil with SEMH needs in Gosport. The role is part-time (3 days per week) and starts ASAP, providing dedicated 1:1 support to help the student engage with learning.

You will work closely with school staff, assist with strategies for emotional regulation, and help rebuild the student’s confidence and attendance in lessons.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people essential
• SEMH/behaviour support or mentoring experience beneficial
• Safeguarding training can be provided
• Enhanced DBS required (or willingness to obtain one)

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 8 pupil with SEMH needs
• Support engagement, attendance, and participation in learning
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the student
• Provide encouragement, structure, and motivation throughout the school day
• Support the pupil academically within lessons and during interventions
• Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SEN professionals
• Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and resilience
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to relevant staff
• Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
• Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
