Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment in Blackpool is seeking an experienced 1:1 specialist to support a secondary-aged pupil with complex trauma, high-risk SEMH needs, and harmful behaviours. The role emphasises professional boundaries and stable routines.

You will work closely with safeguarding leads, ensure accurate records, and apply de-escalation and risk-reduction strategies. Experience in residential care, secure settings, or youth justice is highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with harmful sexual behaviour (HSB) or high-risk SEMH.
• Background in residential childcare, secure units, youth justice services, or high-level SEMH/PRU settings.
• DBS checks: Enhanced Child & Adult Workforce DBS with update service and full barred-list check.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-vigilance 1:1 support within the school day following safety plans and protocols.
• Implement risk-reduction strategies for harmful and disinhibited behaviours while maintaining boundaries.
• De-escalate proactively using relational containment and low-arousal approaches.
• Collaborate with the Designated Safeguarding Lead, social care, and multi-agency safeguarding teams.
• Maintain objective, timely records of incidents, observations, and safeguarding disclosures.
