Job summary

New Directions Education is recruiting dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistants to support primary pupils in Chester. The role focuses on tailored assistance for children with additional learning needs, helping them access lessons, build confidence and reach their potential.

Ideal candidates will have experience with children in school or SEND settings, a patient and adaptable approach, strong communication and teamwork skills, and a good understanding of safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEND setting.
• Patient, caring, and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
• Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification desirable.
• Full driving licence and access to transport beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs
• Supporting pupils to access learning within the classroom
• Assisting with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
• Supporting the implementation of individual learning and behaviour plans
• Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence, and independence
• Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
• Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback where required
• Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
