Job summary

Remedy Recruitment Group is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a KS1 child with ASD in Newham.

This full-time role starts ASAP and runs until the end of the academic year, with extension likely. You will support communication, use Now & Next boards and visual timetables, and help with early literacy and social development.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with ASD and complex needs

  • Understanding of phonics in early literacy
  • Patient, nurturing and able to build trust
  • Comfortable providing personal care

1:1 Primary Teaching Assistant - KS1 - Newham

A warm and supportive Primary School in Newham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a KS1 child with Autism (ASD). This is a full-time role starting ASAP until end of academic year

The Role
  • Providing 1:1 support for a KS1 child with ASD who is pre-verbal
  • Supporting communication and engagement through Now & Next boards, visual aids, and structured routines
  • Assisting with Phonics-based activities and early learning tasks
  • Supporting the child's social and emotional development
  • Providing personal care when required
  • Working closely with the SENCO, class teacher, and external specialists
Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting children with ASD and complex needs
  • Confidence using visual supports (Now & Next boards, visual timetables, PECS, etc.)
  • Understanding of Phonics in early literacy development
  • Patient, nurturing, and able to build trust and consistency
  • Comfortable supporting with personal care
