Axcis is seeking a passionate and experienced SEND student educator for a unique role in Barnstaple. The position involves supporting young people aged 16-25 with learning difficulties, complex needs, Downs Syndrome, Autism, sensory or speech impairments, as well as Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges.
The role is a blend of community and educational support, primarily working on a 1-1 basis with students. You will plan person-centred activities to develop individual aspirations, following a curriculum including Maths and English, which you will adapt to your teaching style.
Key responsibilities include:
The ideal candidate will have a background in education, support work, or enabling, with an understanding of young people's vulnerabilities. Essential qualities include being comfortable and charismatic in SEND environments, passionate about student development, experienced with complex needs and ASC, and calm and supportive in approach. A driver with business insurance is required due to the role's nature.
