Support Worker Role in Barnstaple

Axcis has a unique and exciting new role in Barnstaple with a SEND college that works with young people aged 16 – 25 years diagnosed with learning difficulties, complex needs, Down's Syndrome, Autism, sensory or speech impairments, as well as Social, Emotional, Mental Health issues.

This role involves supporting students both in the community and in education hubs. You will act as a 1-1 student educator, planning person-centred activities to develop individual aspirations. You will follow a curriculum including Maths and English, devised by the college, which you will teach and adapt as needed.

Key responsibilities include working on a 1-1 basis with students, safeguarding, risk assessment, and behavior management. The ideal candidate will have a background in education/support work, understanding the vulnerabilities of young people.

Successful candidates will be:

  • Comfortable and charismatic in SEND environments
  • Passionate about helping students thrive
  • Experienced with complex needs and ASC
  • Calm and supportive

Being a driver with business insurance is essential for this role. This part-time position is available for an immediate start.
