Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Burnley is seeking an enthusiastic EYFS 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil in the early years setting, helping them access learning, build confidence and participate fully in activities.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team to support academic, social, emotional and personal development in a nurturing environment, with a clear focus on safeguarding and inclusive practice.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children in EYFS or primary settings.
  • Nurturing, patient approach to learning and development.
  • Safeguarding and child protection knowledge required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support for a pupil in EYFS.
  • Support learning activities per EYFS curriculum.
  • Assist with IEPs and support strategies.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and independence.
  • Support social and emotional development.
  • Build relationships with parents, carers, and professionals.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Ensure pupil safety and wellbeing.

Job description

We are seeking a caring, patient, and enthusiastic EYFS 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school. This rewarding role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school team, you will play a key role in supporting the child's academic, social, emotional, and personal development within a nurturing learning environment.

Location: Burnley
Salary: £14.25 - £15.50 per hour
Contract Type: Full-Time
Start Date: 1st September or ASAP

About the Role
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored 1:1 support for a pupil in the EYFS setting.
  • Support learning activities in line with the EYFS curriculum.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote independence.
  • Support the pupil's social and emotional development.
  • Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals where appropriate.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Ensure the child's safety and wellbeing at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience supporting children within an EYFS or primary school setting.
  • A nurturing and patient approach to supporting children's learning and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs or SEND is desirable but not essential.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous.
