Job summary

Randstad Student & Worker Support is seeking a 1:1 Primary Specialist Tutor in the Cambridgeshire area to support a Year 1 pupil currently out of mainstream school. The role focuses on EYFS/KS1 pedagogy, blending play-based learning with therapeutic strategies to help regulate emotions and re-engage with learning.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status or extensive primary/early-years tutoring experience.
• EYFS/KS1 expertise in delivering early primary learning frameworks.
• Experience with SEMH, trauma, or exclusion histories.
• Adaptable and energetic, able to teach on the go with movement and outdoors.
• Strong behavior management and de-escalation skills.

Responsibilities

• Play-Based & Active Learning: integrate the pupil's interests into core subjects.
• Therapeutic behavior support: support emotional regulation using movement and sensory tools.
• Bite-sized instruction: 10–15 minute nuggets to maintain standards without overwhelm.
• Relationship building: be a calm, consistent, and patient presence.
• Progress tracking & transition: monitor progress for a smooth return to mainstream schooling.
