Job summary

Quantum Scholars is working with Hillingdon Council to recruit experienced English and Maths Tutors to provide personalised one-to-one support to children and young people across Hayes and the surrounding areas.

Sessions are generally delivered in learners' homes or suitable community settings during school hours. You will support learners with SEND/SEMH, adapting teaching to individual needs and building confidence. This role is in-person with flexible, part-time opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong subject knowledge in English and/or Maths.
• Experience teaching or tutoring children and young people.
• Experience supporting learners with SEND, SEMH or additional needs.
• Previous experience as a Tutor, Teacher, Teaching Assistant (TA), Learning Support Assistant (LSA), SEN Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor or in a similar education or support role.
• The ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learner needs.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, empathetic and flexible approach.
• An Enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
• The right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 English and Maths tuition.
• Support learners in developing their literacy, numeracy and core academic skills.
• Plan and adapt lessons according to each learner's ability, needs, interests and educational goals.
• Identify areas for development and support learners to make measurable progress.
• Build confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.
• Provide encouragement and pastoral support where appropriate.
• Work flexibly during school hours, Monday to Friday.
• Deliver sessions in learners' homes or appropriate community settings.
