0669 - Lead Occupational Health Specialist Practitioner

The interview date for this role will be confirmed.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, highly motivated Occupational Health Professional to join our SEQOHS-accredited Occupational Health and Wellbeing service based at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The role requires providing clinical expertise related to occupational health issues to support the delivery of a high standard service focused on prevention and effective attendance management.

The post holder will support the day-to-day management of the Occupational Health service, providing support to junior clinical and administrative team members, primarily based at our service on the Rotherham Hospital Foundation Trust site.

The ideal candidate will have substantial senior-level Occupational Health experience within a large organization, with a proven track record of meeting local and national targets.

Main duties of the job

The appointed candidate will:

  1. Deputise for the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Matron
  2. Participate in providing a high-quality Occupational Health and Wellbeing service, including assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of Occupational Health needs, activities, and standards.
  3. Deliver specialist Occupational Health advice within the Trust and to external clients as per contracts and Service Level Agreements.
  4. Promote Occupational Health and Wellbeing within the Trust and maintain good working relationships with all client groups.
  5. Respond to professional developments in Occupational Health Practice and Health and Safety Legislation.
  6. Develop policies to communicate legal requirements effectively, minimizing health and safety risks.

Person Specification

Qualifications
  • Diploma/degree in Occupational Health with extensive registration experience, including staff management responsibilities, and willingness to pursue a Masters or equivalent at senior level.
  • Registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse with Specialist Practitioner Status.
  • Management qualification or staff management experience.
  • Basic Counselling Course.
Knowledge and Awareness
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and OH computer systems (e.g., OPAS / COHORT).
  • Willingness to undertake further training as identified in appraisals.
Experience
  • Supervising and motivating staff experience.
  • Implementing National Guidance/Health and Safety Policies into Occupational Health procedures.
  • Data gathering and report production experience.
  • Previous NHS Occupational Health Nursing experience.
  • Successful budget management experience.
  • Developing evidence-based practice.
