Merchandise Processor – Warehouse
Backcountry is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Warehouse team as a Merchandise Processor. This role involves handling all gear from arrival to departure.

Shift Schedules
- AM – Mon‑Fri, 6:30 am‑3:00 pm – $15.00 per hour
- PM – Mon‑Fri, 1:30 pm‑10:00 pm – $16.85 per hour (includes $1.85 shift differential)
- WKN – Sat‑Tue, 6:30 am‑5:00 pm – $17.00 per hour (includes $2.00 shift differential)
Shift hours are not flexible; a candidate must be able to work an entire shift.
Overtime
Occasionally overtime may be required. It is typically scheduled as follows:
- AM Shift – may begin up to 1 hour earlier
- PM Shift – may extend up to 1 hour beyond the usual end time
- Weekend Shift – may include an additional day, as shifts are already 10–12 hours
All scheduling, including overtime, is subject to change based on business needs.
Blackout Dates & Holiday Information
The warehouse will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. Shorter hours are observed on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. The blackout period for time‑off requests is typically from November 10th through December 23rd; requests cannot be approved during this period.
Responsibilities
- Stand and walk for your entire shift
- Read and audit labels
- Identify, count, and sort packages and inventory with a high level of accuracy
- Understand and differentiate between shipping methods and sort packages accordingly
- Use automated packaging equipment
- Use computer hand‑held devices, apps, email, and other technology
- Participate in team meetings, follow guidance, and provide feedback as appropriate
- Maintain a clean workspace
- Fix problems that occur to ensure inventory and/or shipping accuracy
- Resolve inventory issues by adjusting inventory
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Participate in LEAN initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred
- Verbal and written comprehension of the English language required
- Fundamental math skills required
- Must apply established procedures and follow oral or written instructions
- Must work independently without direct supervision and organize or prioritize workload to ensure completion of all tasks within established time frames
- Computer skills, including familiarity with the internet and email, required
- Experience operating power industrial equipment (e.g., standing order picker or forklift) acceptable
Physical Requirements
- Regularly stand, walk on concrete floor, use hearing and speech to communicate with coworkers, give or receive instruction, listen for equipment malfunctions
- Regularly use visual acuity for depth perception and hand‑eye coordination
- Frequently climb up and down stairs; rarely climb ladders
- Frequently bend, twist at waist, knees, or neck
- Frequently use both hands or arms to reach, push, pull, or lift, most often 10–30 lbs, occasionally 30–60 lbs; rarely less than 10 lbs or greater than 60 lbs
- Work is indoors with moderate noise level; crawling is not required
