Job description

About Dioxycle

Dioxycle is developing next-generation electrified chemical manufacturing technologies that produce cheaper, cleaner and sovereign critical chemicals, key to mining, energy infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and consumer goods. Our technology uses electricity and widely available feedstocks (CO, CO2 emissions, salt streams) rather than fossil or imported resources, de-linking the production of critical chemicals from supply chains exposed to chokepoints, export bans, and price volatility. We focus on chemicals where our direct electrified pathway simplifies complex multi-step fossil-fuel-based processes into fewer simpler steps; delivering a process that is both cleaner and cheaper. Having validated the superiority of our technology at our industrial module scale, we are now preparing for commercial deployment.

We are supported by world-class funders including Bill-Gates-founded Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital and Gigascale Capital and have raised $50M to date. We operate from two centers in Paris and California (so whether you are passionate about outdoors or good food/art scenes, we have a location for you to join!)

Your Mission

Dioxycle is seeking an expert VP, Hydrometallurgy to join our team at a pivotal phase as we continue to develop different product lines of our platform electrolyzer and transition from R&D to industrial piloting and early commercial deployment.

We are looking for an industry expert with a wealth of knowledge and experience in metallurgical processes, such as ore refining/processing (lithium, nickel, bauxite) with experience extracting metal oxides from mined rock. You will work in close partnership with our process development, strategy and business teams, where your expertise will accelerate development of our technology and contribute to perfecting of our go-to-market strategy. Your responsibilities will center around:

- Contribute your expertise through discussions with engineering teams and through developing novel process flowsheets and generally contributing actively to novel process design and decisions

- Represent Dioxycle as a technical expert at strategic business/partnership meetings and industry events such as conferences

- Translate research-stage thinking into industrially robust process designs

- Bring an industrial/operations mindset to challenge and stress-test process choices against real plant constraints

We seek a VP, Hydrometallurgy who is dedicated to advancing our mission and possesses the skills outlined below. We are ideally seeking a candidate who is based in, or open to relocating to, Paris, France and to working full time, however we are also open to considering candidates willing to work part-time and/or located in the United States.

Abilities and expertise we are looking for
  • Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related field
  • 15+ years of process engineering experience gained in an industrial setting (large industrial group strongly preferred), with at least 10 years exposure to hydrometallurgical processes such as ore refining/processing with experience extracting metal oxides from mined rock
  • Good fluency in English, with the ability to work closely and effectively in a tight-knit technical team
  • Good project management & organization skills
  • Energy, determination and a can-do attitude
Mindset we are looking for
  • Exemplary work ethic and self-driven attitude: you get things done fast and to a high standard and you don't drop the ball
  • "Street-smart": you don't take no for an answer and will figure out a way to solve anything with the means available
  • Commitment to the mission and ambition and to creating a kind, high-performance and fun atmosphere at work (100% on-site role)
  • Passion for innovation and problem-solving attitude
  • Dedication to investing time and effort for the betterment of the team
  • Going the extra 20% that makes a good deliverable into an outstanding deliverable
  • Humble, low-ego and curious
What we have to offer
  • Unique journey: We are an early-stage company with a world-class team and a flat structure.
  • Impact: We are building a product that will reshape century-old industrial processes to build a better, more sustainable and resilient world
  • People-first: We love our people. We are excited to see one another every morning when coming to work. We choose people and they choose us to share a similar excitement.
  • Feedback over ego: We are self-improving whilst helping others grow. We are no-ego doers and we are all responsible for shaping the company.
  • International team: We are an international team made up of over 17 nationalities, and hopefully many more soon!
  • Fun: We constantly strive to cultivate a great work atmosphere and organize regular team events.
  • Competitive compensation packages
  • Generous Employee Stock Ownership plans
