Job summary

SixteenFifty is seeking an experienced US GAAP Specialist to support a major finance transformation, including transition to SAP S/4HANA. The role involves reviewing historical Accounting and ensuring correct treatment in future reporting.

You will work with senior finance stakeholders across Europe, focusing on adjustments, consolidations, and close procedures while operating in a remote European setup with occasional travel to the South of France.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP in multinational reporting environments.
• Extensive experience in group consolidation, financial reporting and technical accounting.
• Practical understanding of topside journal entries, intercompany eliminations and consolidation adjustments.
• Background in external audit, accounting advisory or group financial reporting, ideally gained within a Big Four or other leading international accounting firm.
• Experience investigating complex accounting matters and producing clear, technically supported recommendations.
• Strong analytical and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across international finance functions.

Responsibilities

• Analyse historical consolidation entries, including manual adjustments, intercompany eliminations and US GAAP-related postings.
• Investigate the purpose and background of existing accounting entries, working with finance teams across different regions to establish whether they remain necessary.
• Review current accounting practices and recommend which adjustments should continue, be revised or be discontinued.
• Document accounting recommendations, including the rationale and potential US GAAP reporting implications.
• Help establish how retained adjustments should be managed within the future ERP and reporting environment.
• Support improvements to financial close procedures, accounting controls and supporting documentation.
• Work alongside finance and IT teams throughout the reporting systems transition, providing functional accounting expertise.

We are currently supporting a global organisation undertaking a significant finance transformation, including the transition from Microsoft Dynamics to SAP S/4HANA and changes to its financial consolidation and reporting landscape.

We are looking for an experienced US GAAP Specialist to support the business in reviewing existing financial reporting practices and preparing for the transition to its new systems environment.

The focus will be on understanding historical accounting adjustments, identifying where existing processes can be improved and ensuring the appropriate accounting treatment is carried forward into the future reporting model.

This is a finance-focused consulting assignment requiring strong technical accounting expertise, an analytical approach and the confidence to work independently with senior finance stakeholders across an international organisation.

The US GAAP Specialist will be responsible for:

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, particularly within complex multinational reporting environments.
• Extensive experience in group consolidation, financial reporting and technical accounting.
• Practical understanding of topside journal entries, intercompany eliminations and consolidation adjustments.
• Background in external audit, accounting advisory or group financial reporting, ideally gained within a Big Four or other leading international accounting firm.
• Experience investigating complex accounting matters and producing clear, technically supported recommendations.
• Strong analytical and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across international finance functions.

Advantageous

• Previous experience supporting financial reporting system upgrades, migrations or wider finance transformation initiatives.
• Familiarity with consolidation and reporting platforms such as Oracle HFM, Hyperion or OneStream.
• Exposure to SAP or other major ERP systems.
• Professional accounting qualifications such as CPA, ACCA or CIMA.

Additional Information

This is a full-time B2B consulting opportunity, initially for six months with the potential for extension.

The position is primarily remote, working within European time zones, although occasional travel to the South of France may be required.
