Job summary

Peoples Gas is seeking a Pipeline Locator for Orlando to accurately locate and mark underground facilities, ensuring public safety during excavation and supporting the Damage Prevention Program. You will work with GIS maps, ticket systems, and field crews to prevent pipeline damage.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, a Florida driver's license, and 1–2 years of locating experience. You must be comfortable with field work, overtime, and learning PHMSA/FPSC rules and company

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is required and knowledge of GIS mapping is preferred.
Minimum 1 year of underground utility locating experience or equivalent qualifications.
Must be able to learn job-related skills and follow complex instructions.

Responsibilities

Receive and respond to excavation notices while complying with state one-call requirements.
Accurately locate and mark underground assets using spray paints, flags, and related equipment.
Operate electronic locating equipment within prescribed accuracy limits.
Perform light hand excavation to expose utilities when necessary.
Provide map updates and facility record corrections to GIS team as needed.
Assist with damaged facility investigations and documentation.
Build relationships with excavation contractors to reduce damages.
Be available for emergency locate response on a rotating basis.
