Job description

At Alstom, we build what millions depend on daily - rail transportation systems that can't afford to fail. We're more than 85,000 people worldwide creating the industry's most diverse portfolio: high-speed trains, metros, trams, maintenance services and integrated systems.

More than a job: a mission

We're looking for a strategic and technically skilled leader to manage the long-term sustaining and service evolution of Train Control & Information Systems (TC&IS) solutions and products. Working with solution, product and services teams, you'll help ensure product continuity, develop innovative service offerings for on-board electronic solutions and support reliable mobility throughout the product lifecycle.

Your role, your impact
  • Define and drive the product sustaining strategy for TC&IS product lines, ensuring sustaining requirements are established with the relevant rolling stock product lines.
  • Support the development and regular update of Product Obsolescence Management Plans, covering both product roadmaps and sustaining activities.
  • Ensure technology refresh and technology update requirements are incorporated into Product Obsolescence Management Plans.
  • Ensure tender and project sustaining requirements are identified and taken into account.
  • Review and validate Product Obsolescence Management Plans for TC&IS products.
  • Maintain the installed-base view for TC&IS products, including customer updates and forecast service life.
  • Work with Parts & Component Repair and Overhaul teams to propose sustaining and R&D budgets for products in the operations and maintenance phase.
  • Develop and validate business cases for technology refreshes and product upgrades.
  • Validate lifecycle-status change notifications and ensure lifecycle information is maintained in the relevant information systems.
  • Lead periodic product-sustaining reviews with product development and support centres.
  • Manage performance indicators for sustaining activities, including customer satisfaction, profitability and plan delivery.
  • Build strong links across product lines, regional teams, procurement, development centres, services teams and external partners.
  • Promote the Alstom Code of Ethics and uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct.

You'll work with committed, international teams solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility. As a Train Control & Information Systems Services Manager, you'll ensure that innovation and product support endure long after trains begin their journeys.

What You Bring
  • An engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of rail vehicles, sub-systems, rolling stock lifecycles and services.
  • Knowledge of rolling stock products and system architectures.
  • Experience with lifecycle management, obsolescence control, technology refresh and technology updates.
  • Understanding of electronic-system design and industrialisation, preferably in rail or a comparable industry.
  • A strong technical background; five years of experience in a technical role in rail or a similar industry is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of internal processes, costing, finance and tenders; familiarity with Design to Cost methodologies and tools is an advantage.
  • The ability to influence teams and stakeholders without direct hierarchical authority and to work effectively in a matrix organisation.
  • Sound judgement and decision-making, supported by the ability to gather, assess and share relevant information.
  • A logical, organised and self-motivated approach, with commitment to quality, cost and delivery objectives.
  • Strong communication skills with senior internal and external stakeholders in an international environment.
  • An international mindset and readiness to work across regions, customers, partners and suppliers.
  • Expertise in obsolescence management, TCMS or traction is highly valued.
  • French, German, Italian or Spanish is an advantage.
  • A continuous-improvement mindset and the ability to innovate effectively.
How Success Is Measured
  • Delivery of a clear and effective product-sustaining strategy across the TC&IS portfolio.
  • Quality and completeness of obsolescence plans, lifecycle data, installed-base information and technology-refresh business cases.
  • Achievement of sustaining performance commitments related to quality, cost, delivery, profitability and plan execution.
  • Sustained customer satisfaction through reliable product support and service excellence.
Alstom, a great place to grow
  • Help strengthen the long-term reliability of advanced digital and control systems for trains.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, procurement, regional and services teams in a global environment.
  • Grow in an international organisation where continuous improvement and innovation translate into real-world mobility impact.

Here, progress isn't always easy - the scale is massive and the tasks are complex - but the impact is real. Because when the system runs, the train moves and the city connects, that feeling stays with you. And the legacy lasts.
