A global hydraulic solutions provider is seeking a Territory Manager in Montpellier, France. In this role, you will maintain and expand relationships with channel partners, drive business growth, and represent the company at trade shows. Ideal candidates should have a background in Mechanical Engineering or Fluid Power Technology, excellent communication skills in English and French, and experience in technical sales. This position requires extensive travel within the territory.

GENERAL SUMMARY

From a home office base, reporting directly to the EMEA Regional Sales Manager South-West Europe, as the Territory Manager for France you will be responsible for maintaining and expanding influential relationships with channel partners to maximize sales coverage in their given territories. You will play an integral role in growing Hydraulic Technologies revenue and profits, by adding value to our channel partners and end‑user customers. You will have a comprehensive understanding of the territory in terms of customers, competitors, industries, and trends as they relate to our portfolio of hydraulic products. It will be your mission to acquire new business opportunities at new and existing customers to meet aggressive business growth plans.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

The ideal candidate will have a strong market and customer focus and be able to translate this into clear business strategies to generate growth.

More specifically, you will achieve annual and quarterly goals of order and revenue targets through:

  • Effectively prioritizing time and attention to what will generate the greatest growth
  • Maximizing sales coverage based on addressable market, industry segments, and channel partners.
  • Setting strategic sales plans and support to gain market share.
  • Holding our channel partners accountable to deliver on commitments and grow our partnership.
  • Be accountable for executing assigned sales goals and sales plans within your designated sales territory.
  • Work proactively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure customer needs are met or exceeded.
  • Represent the Company at trade shows and other professional activities.

DESIRED
  • High technical understanding ideally with background in Mechanical Engineering or Fluid Power Technology.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic tools and bolting equipment.
  • Excellent English and French communication skills both written and oral.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Technical sales experience; industrial, manufacturing, high volume
  • Ability to engage and provide channel partners with sales tools, marketing material, market intelligence
  • Ability to influence channel partners to drive mutual success
  • Lead generation and new business development track record within the industry
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills with strong MS Office skills
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to work from a home office environment
  • Must have the ability to travel extensively throughout the territory to develop new business, support customers, and to understand market conditions (estimated 40% including some overnight travel).

  • Handle sales of higher complexity.
  • Set up new sales representatives, distributors, and accounts.
  • Set and negotiate terms with a high level of authority.
  • Influence cross‑functional teams.
  • Read, analyze and interpret technical data sheets, bulletins, journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to lead sales channels and customers.
  • Solid understanding of business, financials, and products.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and conduct presentations, as well as channel partner training with emphasis on product quality and features, value‑added selling and profitable growth throughout the channel.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical knowledge of products, applications, features, advantages, and benefits. Remain current with relevant internal and external training and development.
  • Exhibit proficiency in Consultative Selling, strive to understand the customers’ needs and motives, and be adept at selling the value proposition of the optimal solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of Hydraulic Technologies product knowledge and competitive products.
  • Participation in industry events such as trade shows and seminars.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The working conditions described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the principal duties and responsibilities of the job. The performance of this position normally requires exposure to a typical manufacturing area which, under certain conditions, requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. The temperature of the primary work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining. Industrial lighting provided.
