Harmonic is seeking a Lab Support Technician to maintain and support the R&D Lab and its networking infrastructure. You will work on hardware test environments, coordinating with Lab, R&D, IT, and contractors to ensure proper operation of lab infrastructure.

You will install and configure lab equipment, manage VMware VMs, document configurations, and ensure top-level lab health and safety in a hands-on, learning-intensive role.

Qualifications

• Clear understanding of a complicated R&D Lab networking topology.
• Clear understanding of Harmonic products at a basic level (RPDs/OLTs/CMs/ONUs) and how they communicate.
• Knowledge of cabling types and how different cables/transceivers relate to network performance.
• Experience with lab setup, installation, configurations, and basic health checks.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Telemetry).
• Proficient in documenting equipment and lab configurations using Jira, Confluence.

We are looking for a Lab support Technician. You will report to the Director of System Integration & QA, Broadband business unit.

Location

On-site - working 5 days a week from our offices in Cesson-Sévigné.

What you will be doing:

Maintain and support the R&D Lab, including hardware test environments with networking equipment (switches, routers, servers, and related infrastructure).

• Receive, inventory, label, and document new lab equipment, including asset tagging and maintaining inventory records,
• Collaborate with the Lab team, R&D teams, local IT, and contractors to build, configure, and maintain the lab environment.
• Coordinate with local facilities to ensure proper operation of lab infrastructure, including cabling, power, cooling, and fire protection systems.
• Install, rack, cable, and connect lab equipment, including switches, servers, RPDs, CMs, and PON equipment.
• Install and maintain VMWare.
• Install Linux/Windows VMs from templates.
• Maintain accurate documentation for lab setups and equipment using Confluence, LabX, Visio, and related tools,
• Verify that lab equipment is installed, connected, and configured according to defined network topologies,
• Monitor the lab environment to ensure equipment health, safety, and proper operating conditions,
• Support lab organization, cleanliness, and controlled access in accordance with company policies.

• Clear understanding of Harmonic products on a basic level, which RPDs/OLTs/CMs/ONUs we have, how they physically work, what setups should consist of, and how thesecomponents are communicating with each other: Core / CRE / DAAS / AGG / RPD / DHCP / PTP / TFTP / VLANs / etc.
• Cabling: which cables play which role. Difference between 1G/10G/100G cables and transceivers and RF/Copper/MM Fiber/SM Fiber cables,
• Setups installation, basic configuration and health check,
• Monitoring tools: Zabbix, Telemetry,
• Documentation: Equipment accounting, Jira, Confluence.
