European Tech Recruit is assisting a multinational Semiconductor company in Toulouse to hire a Technical Lead for Functional Safety in AI. You will drive safety architecture for AI-based systems, lead safety-focused innovation, and coordinate between NPI and applications while mentoring the Safety & AI team.

The role requires a PhD or MSc in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Embedded Systems, with 10+ years in automotive safety, and a strong ISO 26262 background.

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Embedded Systems with 10+ years of industry experience.
• ISO 26262 knowledge is mandatory; IEC 61508 is a plus.
• Solid understanding of AI/ML in embedded systems and safety architecture.

Responsabilités

• Own AI safety execution across projects by translating the Safety & AI roadmap into innovation projects.
• Define system safety concepts for AI-driven features and convert AI behavior into safety requirements and mechanisms for fail-safe behavior.
• Coordinate innovation projects with NPI and applications.
• Collaborate with the enablement team to update development processes to include ISO 8800.
• Apply model validation, robustness checks, fault injection, and runtime safety mechanisms.
• Provide structured feedback to the Safety & AI roadmap owner and contribute inputs based on project execution.
• Accountable for the success of the Safety & AI innovation team.

European Tech Recruit are working closely with a multinational Semiconductor company, based in Toulouse, who are looking for a talented Technical Lead Functional Safety for AI to join their team.

In this role you will ensure that AI-based systems developed are safe, certifiable, and deployable by driving system safety architecture. You lead innovation projects for Safe AI, aligned with the centrally owned Safety & AI roadmap. You also coordinate between different time horizons and ensure that projects transition between them successfully. Additionally you manage the "Safety and AI" innovation team, and ensure people deliver to their full potential while creating a career path for them.

Responsibilities as Technical Lead Functional Safety for AI:

• Own execution of AI safety across projects by translating the Safety & AI roadmap into innovation projects.
• Together with other experts, define system safety concepts for AI-driven features, convert AI behavior into safety requirements and mechanisms, and ensure fail-safe or fail-operational behavior.
• Coordinate innovation projects with NPI and applications.
• Collaborate with the enablement team to update our development processes to include standards such as ISO 8800.
• Apply model validation, robustness checks, fault injection, and runtime safety mechanisms, and provide feedback on gaps.
• Provide structured feedback to the Safety & AI roadmap owner and contribute inputs based on project execution.
• Accountable for the success of the "Safety & AI" innovation team

Requirements:

• PhD or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Embedded Systems, with at least 10 years of industry experience
• An intimate knowledge of ISO-26262 is mandatory, IEC 61508 is nice to have
• A good understanding of the Safety and AI landscape is mandatory
• 10+ years architecting, designing, and validating safety embedded systems in Automotive environments
• Solid understanding of AI/ML in embedded systems
• Ability to bridge architecture, safety, and execution teams
