Job summary

Alstom seeks a System Engineer for Turnkey Gautrain projects, based at our Nigel site in South Africa. You will participate in system definition, sizing, and MBSE analyses, drafting system specifications for stakeholder approval and coordinating interfaces with subsystems and partners.

You will gather data across track, power, signalling and rolling stock to optimize performance. We value passion and a proactive attitude.

Qualifications

• University degree in engineering (any discipline).
• Knowledge of railway systems and operating requirements.
• Good level of English and contract language.

Responsibilities

• Participate in system definition and sizing.
• Contribute to railway system analysis using MBSE approach.
• Write system specifications and obtain stakeholder approvals.
• Gather data for track, power supply, signalling and rolling stock to support performance optimization.
• Perform requirement analysis and development.
• Contribute to change analysis and interfaces documentation with subsystems and clients.

HIERARCHIC MANAGER – Project Engineering Manager

YOUR FUTURE ROLE :

• To participate to some system activities (system design, system sizing).
• To define and manage some interfaces between Subsystems either within Alstom contract or with other contractors or partners

MAIN OFFICE LOCATION:

• Located in Nigel (Ekurhuleni) at the production site
• May also be required to visit suppliers and other Alstom sites/offices
• Project team, Construction manager, Subsystem’s engineering managers and installation managers Customer, Consortium Partners, Subcontractors, Consultants

WE’LL LOOK TO YOU TO:

• Participate to the System definition and the system sizing
• Participate to the railway system analysis through a MBSE approach
• Write some system specifications and make them approved by all the stakeholders.
• Participate to system sizing by gathering the track, Power supply, signalling and Rolling stock data required for this activity and support the performances optimisation
• Participate to the requirement analysis and development
• Participate to the change analysis
• Produce or update some Interfaces documents in coordination with the subsystems and make them agreed by both subsystems and approved by the client

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

• Graduate Of University Degree in any of Engineering

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Knowledge of railway systems, operating requirements
• At least 5 years of experience in Engineering / Technical functions including 3 years in Railway projects
• A good level of English and contract Language
• Knowledge of the rail environment and engineering practices
• Good co-ordination and communication
