Airbus Commercial Aircraft in Toulouse, France is seeking a System Designer to drive the technical design of the Integrated Modular Avionic (IMA) platform, focusing on Core Processing Modules and data networks within the DAL‑A architecture.

You will work with suppliers and internal teams to define high‑level requirements, apply ARP4754/DO‑178/DO‑254 standards, and contribute to safety and certification strategies for a future generation of avionics.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electronics/hardware/software/systems engineering.
  • Knowledge of modern avionics platform architectures.
  • Knowledge of HW/SW development constraints and standards (DO-178, DO-254, ARP4754).
  • Systems mindset: define what the module must do at the system level.
  • Knowledge of ARINC 653 concepts and RTOS constraints.
  • Excellent technical writing in English for a document-centric environment.
  • Eligibility for security/export control/military clearances.

Responsabilités

Job Description

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a System Designer for future IMA Avionics Platform (M/F) to join our Cockpit & Platforms Avionics Department based in Toulouse, France. You will be part of a team in charge of Integrated Modular Avionic (IMA) computers (Core Processing Modules, Remote Data Concentrators) as well as data networks (ADCN). As part of the Avionics Platforms team you will drive the technical design and definition of the future generation of Integrated Modular Avionic (IMA) computers, which are critical hardware/software components within Airbus next‑generation system architecture (DAL‑A) for Next Generation Single Aisle.

Your challenges
  • Advanced Platform Study: Support TRL reviews (to reach TRL6) and de‑risking activities to evaluate the feasibility and characteristics of future platform architectures in a safety‑critical context, including emerging architectures such as RISC‑V and multicore processing management in IMA context.
  • IMA System Design: Define high‑level requirements for the core processing perimeter, focusing on hardware virtualization and the interface with A653 RTOS solutions.
  • Supplier Follow‑up: Act as the technical counterpart for potential future suppliers during the research and pre‑development phases.
  • V&V and Certification Pre‑compliance: Ensure early‑stage designs are architected to meet applicable standards (including ARP4754, DO‑254, DO‑178C (DAL‑A)) and initiate V&V and certification strategies to meet DAL‑A standard.
  • Strategic Evolution: Nurture the technical dossiers required for the eventual launch of full‑scale development (in the 3‑5 year horizon).
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Background: Minimum 3 years of experience with a strong foundation in Electronics/Hardware/Software/A/C systems engineering.
  • Architecture: Knowledge of modern avionics platform architectures.
  • Hardware/Software Development: Knowledge of H/W and S/W development constraints and standards such as DO‑178, DO‑254, ARP4754.
  • Systems mindset: Ability to stay at the "system level" – defining what the module must do while leaving the how to the supplier’s detailed design.
  • Real‑time OS familiarity: Knowledge of ARINC 653 concepts and constraints of commercial real‑time operating systems.
  • Communication: Good communication and stakeholder management abilities, excellent technical writing skills in English for a document‑centric environment.
  • Security: Eligibility for security, export control and military clearances by the recognised authorities.
