A leading technology company in Paris is seeking a Studio Designer to create high-quality AR experiences. You will be responsible for assembling and optimizing interactive AR scenes, working closely with designers and engineers. The ideal candidate has strong skills with Lens Studio and experience in real-time 3D workflows. This role requires a proactive mindset and the ability to work in an office at least 4 days a week.

Overview

Snap Inc is a technology company. The AR Studio team at Snap is responsible for designing, prototyping, and delivering cutting-edge augmented reality experiences that push the limits of creativity and technology. As part of this team, you’ll collaborate with designers, engineers, and producers to shape the future of AR storytelling on Snapchat.

As a Studio Designer, you’ll bring together creative vision and technical execution to craft seamless, high-quality Lens experiences. You’ll be responsible for assembling, refining, and optimising interactive AR scenes in Lens Studio - ensuring that each Lens runs smoothly, looks great, and delivers a magical experience for our users.

What You’ll Do:
  • Stage and Assemble: Set up and organise all visual and interactive elements within the Lens Core environment to test, iterate, and refine AR experiences.
  • Composite and Polish: Layer visual assets, apply color correction, and ensure consistency and immersion across all components.
  • Debug and QA Support: Anticipate potential issues and collaborate with QA to identify, document, and resolve bugs before launch.
  • Optimise Performance: Improve memory efficiency and asset compression to ensure smooth performance across devices.
  • Maintain Scene Cleanliness: Keep project hierarchies organized and ensure clear naming conventions for optimal performance and collaboration.
  • Prototype Rapidly: Build quick Proofs of Concept (POCs) and demo versions to test new ideas and validate creative directions.
  • Integrate Assets: Collaborate with Designers and AR Engineers to integrate assets into the Lens Studio scene, managing version control and ensuring correct implementation.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with the AR Production team to align creative intent with technical feasibility and support collaborative GitHub workflows.
  • Workshops and education: You will be engaged in the development and growing lenses community by participating in partner programs designed for educational establishments, community creators, agencies etc.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Strong understanding of Lens Studio and real-time 3D workflows.
  • Experience in compositing, staging, and optimization for AR/VR or interactive media.
  • Familiarity with Unity, Unreal, or similar 3D engines is a plus.
  • A keen eye for visual quality, composition, and user experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Excellent organisational and communication abilities in a cross-disciplinary environment.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to iterate quickly and creatively under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Animation, Computer Graphics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience collaborating with engineers, producers, and QA teams on real-time projects.
  • Passion for AR, immersive design, and pushing creative boundaries.
