About the role

EMBRC’ Communications Unit is seeking an intern to support the organisation’s communication. The candidate will work with the Communications Officer to help create communications in line with the strategy. This position offers a diverse and hands‑on experience, typical of a small, non‑profit association operating in a complex European and scientific environment.

The role requires strong interest in scientific topics and especially marine biodiversity studies, as well as the ability to work in English in a multicultural and international setting.

Main responsibilities
Digital communication

Social media

  • Bring support for planning and publishing content across channels through campaigns development and/or special operations
  • Design visual assets in line with the brand guidelines (proficiency with Adobe Suite is required)
  • Produce short videos (experience with editing software is required)
  • Help draft social content (in English) for our main channels (LinkedIn, BlueSky, X)
  • Monitor the social platforms and help develop community engagement

Website and Content Creation

  • Help draft webpages to showcase events, trainings, projects and other editorial content in line with the strategy
  • Upload and update content in the CMS (articles, events, etc.)
  • Participate in developing changes and improvements on the website with the Communications Officer and the web agency
Branding
  • Support the development and creation of promotional materials (e.g. merchandising, flyers, posters, banners, marketing assets etc.)
  • Help create briefs for design and liaise with external sub‑contractors
Performance monitoring
  • Collect performance data of online platforms
  • Contribute to the analysis and interpretation of communications results
  • Help prepare communications reports

The intern will receive close support and supervision, while being encouraged to take initiative and contribute actively to the team's strategic discussions.

Technical skills
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), indispensable
  • Video editing skills (basic level or above), indispensable
  • Familiarity with social media scheduling and publishing tools would be an asset
  • Excellent written and spoken English with good writing skills
  • Good command of Office tools, particularly Excel would be an asset

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent skills and knowledge of the digital communication ecosystem
  • Creative, with a good artistic eye
  • Intellectual curiosity, particularly for scientific and environmental topics
  • Strong organisational skills, autonomy, and attention to detail

  • Comfortable working in an international and multicultural context
