Staff Database Administrator (DBA) at Doctolib

We are looking for a Staff Database Administrator (DBA) to join the DODO team in our Tech Department. As a Database Administrator, your mission will be to work on improving and protecting the health of our datastores, which is essential for providing reliable and efficient healthcare services to patients and practitioners. You will be working in a feature team responsible for empowering the whole tech teams to use our datastores in the most efficient way. Working in the tech team at Doctolib involves building innovative products and features to improve the daily lives of care teams and patients. We work in feature teams in an agile environment, while collaborating with product, design, and business teams.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  1. Empowering feature teams on database best practices.
  2. Assisting in breaking down our main PostgreSQL database (30TB) into smaller, more scalable databases.
  3. Monitoring query performance and data modeling, offering optimization recommendations to feature teams.
  4. Setting up monitoring and alerting to catch performance issues.
  5. Performing maintenance tasks on managed databases to enhance stability and improve performance.

Who you are

  • 10+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or Engineer focused on reliability and scalability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, especially in identifying and resolving database performance bottlenecks.
  • Excellent communication skills for efficient knowledge transfer.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers on database performance challenges, query optimization, and best practices.
  • Eager to leverage your experience to help your team and the entire Tech team grow.
  • Fluent in English.

Additional qualifications that would be a plus:

  • Experience with architecture choices for high-traffic web applications, especially scalability challenges on large databases.
  • Experience with cloud-based environments and databases such as AWS Aurora PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
  • Experience with Change Data Capture ecosystems & technologies such as Kafka and Debezium.
