Overstory seeks a Staff Data Engineer to design and scale the data platform powering its AI-driven vegetation analysis. You will own architecture, shepherd large satellite-imagery pipelines, and ensure durable, observable systems across data, ML, and product teams.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and establish standards for pipelines, service boundaries, and data quality in a remote-first, globally distributed environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing and building production-grade data pipelines and systems.
• Deep hands-on experience with Dagster and related orchestration tools.
• Proven track record operating data pipelines at scale with idempotency and partitioning.
• Experience with high-demand systems, testing, and scalability best practices.
• Strong system design skills, including boundaries, contracts and failure modes.
• Experience in SOA, versioning, and migrations while keeping operations live.
• Strong Python skills and experience with Google Cloud; Pub/Sub and event-driven patterns.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; collaborative across teams.
