Jobtailor in Paris is seeking a Staff/Principal Engineer to lead frontier AI projects and architect scalable systems for training large-scale agents.

You will mentor researchers and engineers, drive end-to-end AI/ML initiatives from concept to production, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to push research into production-ready platforms. The role focuses on RL, foundation models, and observability in high-performance environments.

Qualifications

• Staff, Principal, or Senior Engineer with a proven track record leading end-to-end AI/ML projects in frontier research.
• PhD (or equivalent) in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related field, with publications at NeurIPS/ICML/ICLR preferred.
• Deep expertise in Agentic AI and shipping solutions with foundation models (LLMs/VLMs).
• Experience applying reinforcement learning to systems built on large language models.
• Experience with distributed systems or cloud computing, preferably AWS.
• Familiarity with building complex simulation environments for agent training.
• Experience with LLM training or fine-tuning and with large-scale evaluation/benchmarking.
• Experience in agentic frameworks (LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, OpenAI SDK).
• Expertise in architecture, instrumentation, observability, and monitoring for high-performance systems.

Responsabilités

• Design and develop agents, researching new directions such as combining RL with foundation models.
• Design, implement, and scale high-performance training systems and infrastructure for large-scale agents.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to implement and productionize new agent logics and architectures.
• Create and scale benchmarks and evaluation systems; ensure system reliability and observability for research infra.
• Mentor engineers and researchers, establish engineering standards, tooling, and best practices.
• Perform code and design reviews, address technical debt to accelerate R&D lifecycle.
