Hashlist seeks a Software Safety Manager to lead software functional safety across the ISO 26262 lifecycle for automotive embedded software at a major OEM, owning the safety plan, work products, and safety-case contributions from requirements to release.

In this hybrid, permanent role, you will define safety requirements, allocate ASILs, supervise analyses (FMEA/FTA), review the safety architecture, and ensure traceability and verification across software layers and AUTOSAR components.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of ISO 26262:2018, Parts 2, 4, 6, 8 and 9.
• Experience producing and reviewing safety work products.
• Ability to tailor safety lifecycle activities and plans.
• Derive software safety requirements and risk controls.
• Experience with safety analyses (FMEA/FTA) and fault propagation.
• Knowledge of software verification methods and MISRA C/C++.

We are looking for a Software Safety Manager. This role leads software functional safety across the ISO 26262 lifecycle for automotive embedded software at a major OEM, owning the software safety plan, work products, and safety case contribution from requirements through release.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and tailor software functional safety activities across the safety lifecycle per ISO 26262 (Parts 2, 4, 6, 8, and 9)
• Define, maintain, and communicate the software safety plan, including scope, ASILs, work products, verification activities, confirmation measures, and acceptance criteria
• Translate technical safety requirements and the HW-SW interface spec into complete, verifiable, bidirectionally traceable software safety requirements
• Define and review the software safety architecture, including safety mechanisms, fault detection and reaction, degraded modes, timing constraints, partitioning, and freedom from interference
• Ensure correct allocation of safety requirements across application software, AUTOSAR RTE, Basic Software, complex drivers, middleware, OS, and communication stacks
• Perform or coordinate software safety analyses, including software FMEA, FTA contributions, dependent failure analysis, and support for ASIL decomposition
• Review and approve software safety work products and define ASIL-dependent verification strategies with appropriate review and independence levels
• Oversee static analysis, coding-rule compliance, unit and integration testing, fault injection, and structural coverage analysis (statement, branch, MC/DC)
• Assess the safety suitability of reused, third-party, legacy, generated, and configurable software, and maintain tool confidence and qualification strategies
• Manage safety anomalies, deviations, assumptions, and residual risks, and ensure closure evidence before release decisions
• Prepare and support confirmation reviews, functional safety audits, and assessments, and maintain the software contribution to the safety case

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field
• Significant experience in functional safety for automotive embedded software, preferably with responsibility for ASIL B to ASIL D projects
• In-depth knowledge of ISO 26262:2018, particularly Parts 2, 4, 6, 8, and 9, with hands-on experience producing and reviewing the associated work products
• Strong grasp of safety lifecycle tailoring, safety planning, confirmation measures, safety case development, ASIL decomposition, freedom from interference, and dependent failure analysis
• Practical experience deriving software safety requirements and defining safety mechanisms for fault detection, containment, safe-state or degraded-mode transitions, supervision, and diagnostics
• Knowledge of AUTOSAR Classic and/or Adaptive architectures, including SW components, RTE, OS concepts, Basic Software, communication stacks, diagnostics, and memory services
• Experience with software safety analysis methods (FMEA, FTA, dependent failure analysis, interface/failure-propagation analysis)
• Sound knowledge of software verification methods, including static analysis, coding standards, unit and integration testing, requirements-based testing, fault injection, and structural coverage
• Experience with model-based development, generated code, or C/C++ embedded development, and familiarity with MISRA C/C++ or equivalent
• Knowledge of tool confidence assessment and qualification, software component qualification, proven-in-use arguments, configuration, change, and anomaly management
• Proficiency with requirements, traceability, and lifecycle tools such as DOORS, Polarion, Jama, Git, or Jira
• Strong technical writing, review, negotiation, and communication skills, and professional proficiency in written and spoken English
