Hashlist is seeking a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to lead software-level safety activities across the automotive software lifecycle. The role emphasizes safety analysis, requirements, architecture, and safety mechanism implementation for ASIL-rated ECUs.

You will collaborate with System and Software Architecture, Base Software, Application Software, Integration, Validation, and Safety Management teams in an international engineering environment.

Responsabilités

  • Manage and coordinate software functional safety activities per ISO 26262.
  • Support Functional Safety Management activities at software and project level.
  • Define and maintain System/Software Functional Safety Requirements.
  • Ensure safety requirements are clear, testable, traceable across architecture to verification.
  • Develop safety-oriented software architectures for ASIL B–D ECUs.
  • Allocate safety requirements across software components and layers.
  • Perform and moderate software safety analyses (SW FMEA, FTA, DFA).
  • Define safety mechanisms: Watchdog, memory protection, timing, Safe RTE, E2E protection.

Description du poste

We are looking for a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to lead and support software-level functional safety activities across the automotive software development lifecycle.

The role focuses on software safety analysis, safety requirements, safety-oriented software architecture, and the definition and implementation of safety mechanisms for ASIL-rated automotive ECUs.

You will work closely with System and Software Architecture, Base Software, Application Software, Integration, Validation, Functional Safety Management, and project teams within an international engineering environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate software functional safety activities in accordance with ISO 26262 and the applicable software development process
  • Support the implementation of Functional Safety Management activities at software and project level
  • Define, refine, consolidate, and maintain System and Software Functional Safety Requirements
  • Ensure that software safety requirements are clear, complete, testable, and traceable throughout architecture, implementation, integration, and verification
  • Develop and review safety-oriented software architectures for ASIL B to ASIL D automotive ECUs
  • Allocate safety requirements across Application Software Components, RTE, Basic Software, operating systems, and hardware-related software layers
  • Initiate, perform, and moderate software safety analyses, including SW FMEA, FTA, DFA, and dependent failure analyses
  • Define and assess software safety mechanisms, including:
  • Watchdog supervision and program-flow monitoring
  • MPU-based memory protection and partitioning
  • Freedom from Interference
  • End-to-End communication protection
  • Safe RTE concepts
  • Timing, execution, and communication monitoring
  • Support ASIL decomposition and the integration of software components with different safety classifications
  • Collaborate with software architects and development teams to translate safety concepts and requirements into software architecture and design
  • Support integration and validation teams in defining safety verification criteria, robustness tests, fault-injection tests, and safety-related test cases
  • Review software designs, implementation concepts, test results, and safety evidence for compliance with ISO 26262
  • Contribute to functional safety work products, safety cases, audits, assessments, and compliance reviews
  • Analyse applicable automotive safety standards, directives, and engineering practices
  • Provide technical guidance to software development teams, safety managers, and project stakeholders
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Strong professional experience in automotive functional safety, particularly at software level
  • Practical experience developing software functions and architectures in accordance with ISO 26262
  • Proven experience conducting and moderating software safety analyses, particularly SW FMEA, FTA, and DFA
  • Experience defining, refining, and managing Software Functional Safety Requirements
  • Strong understanding of software safety architecture and safety mechanisms for ASIL B, ASIL C, or ASIL D ECUs
  • Good knowledge of Freedom from Interference, memory partitioning, timing protection, and mixed-criticality software
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR Classic and/or Adaptive, including software architecture, RTE, Basic Software, specifications, and configuration tools
  • Knowledge of AUTOSAR safety mechanisms such as Watchdog Manager, E2E Protection, Safe RTE, and memory protection
  • Experience working with automotive CPU architectures, microcontrollers, and microprocessors
  • Experience in at least one automotive domain such as ADAS, Infotainment, Chassis, or Connected Services
  • Experience with embedded software development methods, toolchains, configuration management, and verification processes
  • Ability to work effectively within multicultural and cross-functional global teams
  • Structured, autonomous, and proactive working approach
  • Strong technical communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • Experience with planning, status reporting, risk management, and technical escalation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional development experience with QNX or another POSIX-compliant operating system
  • Familiarity with IEC 61508 and SOTIF
  • Experience with ASIL decomposition and dependent failure analysis
  • Knowledge of fault injection, robustness testing, timing supervision, program-flow monitoring, and communication monitoring
  • Experience supporting functional safety audits, assessments, and safety case preparation
  • Familiarity with automotive functional safety tools used for requirements management, traceability, and safety analysis
