What you will do

At Volvo Group Digital & IT, you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry, and society as a whole. You will:

  • Join the Digital Delivery Area Manufacturing team based in Lyon, France.
  • We are looking for a passionate and experienced Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our development department, you will take part in designing, developing, testing, and deploying innovative software solutions, using modern technologies such as .NET, Java, Angular, SQL, and Python. You will have the opportunity to work in an international, agile, and innovation-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications, following best practices to deliver clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
  • Stay open to learning (e.g., working with legacy systems such as DB2).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze business requirements.
  • Optimize application performance and ensure scalability.
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain quality and adherence to standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and technical issues.
  • Implement secure CI/CD pipelines, manage Git workflows, and integrate security tools (SCA, SAST, DAST, SonarQube).
  • Write and maintain unit tests to ensure code reliability.
  • Work in an agile Scrum environment with a strong focus on technological innovation, including AI and prompt engineering.

In this role, you will collaborate effectively with other stable teams and DPOs, influencing applications and processes across various solutions. You will contribute to the definition and evolution of diverse systems while staying up to date with standards, platform features, and key technologies from both the community and vendors.

We expect you to actively develop your skills and share best practices within the community. You will also handle debugging, incident response, and reverse-engineering tasks for the team. By identifying key gaps in product offerings, you will add real value and spark enthusiasm among end users. Working closely with DPOs/DPAOs, you will play a key role in MVPs, deliveries, and major initiatives.

Who are you?

Do you like to dream big? So do we, and we’re excited about growing together. In this role, you will bring:

  • Strong SQL knowledge, particularly with MS SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, Git workflow management, and integration of security tools.
  • Experience in Python development and a strong interest in technology watch.
  • Unit testing: ability to write and maintain tests to ensure code reliability and functionality.
  • Agile methodology: active participation in sprints, ceremonies, and Agile processes to deliver incremental value.
  • Experience with distributed version control systems (Git).
  • Good command of English, comfortable in an international environment.
  • Team collaboration – ability to work harmoniously with others in a positive, productive environment.
  • Adaptability – ability to quickly adjust to team needs, new technologies, or shifting priorities.
  • Collaborative problem-solving – analyzing challenges and co-creating effective solutions with the team.
  • Open-mindedness – embracing diverse perspectives and integrating feedback to improve team results.
  • Knowledge of AI and prompt engineering is a plus.
