Overview

Shore Crossing Engineering Services is recruiting a Shore Crossing Engineer to work for a global energy company. The role is based in Pau, France and will focus on a large offshore Oil and Gas project. This is a residential position starting as soon as possible for 12 months. Location: Pau, France. Contract: 12 months. Status: Resident. Recruiter: Saidy Miguel.

Missions and Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Offshore Pipeline Lead you will ensure that the shore crossing section is properly designed, integrating various aspects which include specific engineering features like coastal geomorphology processes analysis, pipelines metallurgy, HSE (coastal environment) and constructability (including installation strategy). 3 methodologies will be investigated : Open Trench (dredging & trenching), post trenching and Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD).
  • All the activities related to the development of the Project Shore Approach activities, interfacing with the other systems of the project future upstream facilities, notably the liaison between offshore pipelay (Shallow water barge) and onshore construction.
  • Participating as required to make the collection of design data, construction of the crossing, and the inspection of the pipeline and Fiber Optic Cable (FOC).
  • The Service holder will work under the management of the Offshore Pipeline Lead, with the missions as defined below :
  • To contribute to the Shore Approach system delivery, within the agreed budget and time schedule, in conformance to with applicable laws and regulations, codes (DNV), and standards (PNG standards calling Australian standards), contextualized GS, with required level of quality, high HSE Standards, with respect of the Project highly environmentally sensitive environment, and within the agreed time schedule and cost.
  • To provide support to challenge the FEED contractors and promote alternatives design to optimize the cost, work, and schedule.
  • To participate in the Nearshore EPC Contract acting as Deputy Company Representative in the EPC contractor premises.
  • To contribute to minimize costs, improve environmental impact, improve overall quality and planning.
  • To contribute to the Safety and Environment in Design assessment process to ensure pipelines can be safely installed and operated with minimal environmental impact.
  • To contribute to optimize the logistics related to shore crossing design by minimizing the means and their usage.
  • To contribute within his perimeter to the Project’s Local Content Plan.
  • To contribute to the studies leading to technical decision making and issue recommendation to the Offshore Pipeline Lead from Project Management. In addition, the Service holder contributes to the EPC CFT documents preparation for next phase.
  • To contributes to Company certification process and follow the Guidelines for Shoreline and Waterways Crossing, with elements of it feeding in to national and international standards, such as AS 2885.4 and DNV-ST-F101.
  • Promotes safety awareness at all levels through exemplary and pro‑active attitude within Project team and contractor / Subcontractors / Vendors’ team.
  • Challenges the Engineering contractor / promote alternatives design to optimize the environmental impact, cost, work, and schedule.
  • Supervises and coordinates the shore crossing engineering related activities performed by dedicated FEED Contractor specialized for the Nearshore EPSCC (WP3b). Onshore if HDD, Offshore and / or Nearshore.
  • Reviews FEED engineering documents and consolidates comments related to shore crossing deliverables; liaise with other engineering specialist(s) (for ex. Corrosion, Geotechnical), and entity (Operations, HSE…) as required.
  • Assists the Breakwater Design and Testing, the logistics (Access channel, Causeway), Review of Metocean criteria, Protection of subsea service (Rock dumping), Pile design (including installation & repair), Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Ensures that all offshore Environmental studies are duly considered in close coordination with Project H3SE team.
  • Ensures logistics & transportation achievement.
  • Challenges General Specifications when appropriate, liaises with HQ experts, issues and follow‑up of Derogations requests.
  • Supports the preparation and participate to Project Reviews, provides answers, and ensure timely implementation of the findings. (Nearshore part).
  • Participates to the technical clarification meetings with the Tenders, bid evaluation and Recommendation to Award (Technical) for Nearshore EPSCC.
  • Assists Construction supervision team for their activities (such as procedures review).
  • Provides adequate and timely reporting of the Engineering activity (highlights, budget, progress, concerns).
  • Ensures confidentiality of all the Project internal critical information and documentation as per Project procedures.
  • Promotes ‘lessons learnt’ and provide feedback as required.
  • Follows up FEED / EPC Contractors’ performance in offshore pipelines discipline : timely delivery and review of Contractor’s engineering documents, studies, and queries through an efficient technical coordination scheme with the Contractors.
Qualifications
  • Professional Experience : at least 12 years in Oil and Gas projects, notably for the shore crossing design.
  • Experience in similar position(years) : at least 10 years at same or equivalent position.
  • English is mandatory, French is an added benefit.
  • Previous experience in Pipeline construction in harsh environments, remote location, subject to geohazards(liquefaction) and offshore pipelines including shore approach are considered as added value for the position.
