Job summary

CEVA Logistics is seeking a proactive Shipping Agent to join our team in Zaandam. You will prepare export shipping documents, coordinate with Customs, and liaise with carriers to arrange pickups.

You will also support warehouse operations and assist with loading, unloading, and moving goods as needed. You will work in a fast-paced, international environment with opportunities to learn across the logistics chain.

Qualifications

• Preferably experience in maintaining customer and supplier relationships.
• Operational experience with dangerous goods or willing to learn.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to resolve issues.
• Task- and solution-oriented, able to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
• Willingness to learn and grow within the role.
• Hands-on mentality and willingness to perform warehouse activities when needed.
• Willingness and ability to operate forklift and reach truck; training provided.
• Experience with warehouse processes is an advantage.
• Solid MS Office; SAP preferable.
• Good command of English.
• Certificate of No Objection (VOG) required; costs covered by CEVA.

Responsibilities

• Prepare shipping documentation for exports and coordinate with Customs.
• Coordinate with carriers regarding shipment pickups.
• Communicate with customers regarding issues; be the primary contact for inquiries.
• Support operational warehouse activities including loading/unloading and moving goods.
• Assist with movement of goods and operation of warehouse equipment as needed.

YOUR ROLE

We are looking for a motivated and results-driven colleague to strengthen our Shipping Agent team. As a member of our Shipping department, you play a crucial role in preparing and processing transport documentation. You’ll be responsible for tasks such as maintaining relationships with suppliers and carriers, coordinating shipments, and ensuring all transport documentation is complete and accurate. With your organizational skills, you contribute to an efficient and smooth logistics operation. This position offers the opportunity to gain broad insight into the entire logistics chain within an international, dynamic environment.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

After goods have been picked and packed, you prepare the shipping documentation. For export shipments, you will coordinate with our Customs department to arrange export documentation. You communicate with carriers regarding shipment pickups.

If any issues or uncertainties arise, you’ll be in direct contact with our customer.

In addition to your administrative responsibilities, you will also support operational warehouse activities when required. This may include assisting with the movement of goods, loading and unloading shipments, and operating warehouse equipment such as a forklift and reach truck. If you do not yet hold the required certificates, CEVA can provide the necessary training through our in-house warehouse trainer.

This variety of tasks will help you build a deep understanding of the logistics chain, as well as valuable skills in planning, communication, and problem-solving.

We are also looking for someone who brings the following skills and experience:

• Preferably experience in maintaining customer and supplier relationships;
• Operational experience with dangerous goods or willing to learn;
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to effectively resolve customer issues;
• Task- and solution-oriented, able to work under pressure in a dynamic and fast-paced environment;
• A positive attitude, adaptability, and willingness to learn and grow within the role;
• Hands-on mentality and willingness to perform operational warehouse activities when needed;
• Willingness and ability to operate forklift and reach truck equipment as part of the role;
• Forklift and reach truck certification is not required; training can be provided internally;
• Experience with warehouse processes is considered an advantage;
• Solid computer skills, including MS Office; experience with SAP is preferable;
• Good command of the English language;
• Providing a Certificate of No Objection (VOG) is required; the application costs will be covered by CEVA.
