Job summary

Sompo International is seeking a Senior Underwriter Property to strengthen our Paris-based underwriting team. You will evaluate and price property risks for large corporate and multinational clients, contribute to growth, and collaborate with internal partners to ensure contract integrity and effective risk management.

The role requires 10+ years in property underwriting, strong cross-border and regulatory understanding, and fluency in English and French.

Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Senior Underwriter Property in our Property Underwriting Team France.

As part of our growth strategy in France, we are seeking a Senior Underwriter Property in our Paris office. This individual will strengthen the Underwriting team on various local and european underwriting matters.

What you’ll be doing:

• Contribute to the growth and profitability of Sompo International Property portfolio by actively sourcing submissions
• Underwriting of large corporate clients in accordance with corporate philosophy and underwriting strategy
• Analysis, evaluation and calculation of Property risks, preparation of offers (lead and follow business), structuring of insurance programs and multinational business.
• Routinely analyze contracts and wordings and ensure appropriate pricing and utilization of capacities
• Be responsible for underwriting document filings, accuracy of data entries to systems and contract integrity for accounts underwritten
• Effectively interact, communicate and negotiate with all levels of external and/or internal business partners (such as Distribution, Claims, Operations, Finances).
• Support marketing efforts, creating high quality, original solutions to enhance the reputation and market presence of Sompo.
• Focus on other value add projects, developments, and activities, as required.
• Representing Sompo International externally at the highest level including interests with the press and relevant internal & external shareholders, in commercial negotiations and/or through participation in industry forums, corporate communications events, etc to raise Sompo’s profile within the market place.

What you’ll bring:

• 10+ years of experience working in underwriting position in Property in France
• Deep technical knowledge of Property exposures.
• Strong expertise in international large Corporate and heavy industry risk underwriting of global insurance programs
• Good network within the French broker and inhouse risk manager Community.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• The highest levels of integrity.
• Recognizes opportunities and approaches new trends with an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Good understanding of the insurance regulatory environment in France and its influence in business development, underwriting and claims management strategies
• Naturally connects and builds strong relationships with others, demonstrating strong emotional intelligence and an ability to communicate clearly and persuasively.
• Language skills: English; French.
• Willingness to travel internationally as required
