The Emerald Group is seeking a Senior Underwriter to independently support new business acquisition and renewal within defined underwriting limits and guidelines. You will analyze product terms, T&Cs, claims experience and associated risks to determine risk-adequate pricing in collaboration with the sales team.

You will prepare quotations, reprice renewals, monitor loss ratios, and contribute to profit share calculations, with a focus on German and English communication and strong Excel usage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master in economics/statistics/mathematics/law or similar with relevant subjects.
• German and English language skills (spoken and written).
• Strong knowledge of office applications and advanced Excel skills.

The senior underwriter independently supports the acquisition of new business and the renewal of existing business within the framework of defined underwriting limits and company guidelines in close cooperation with the sales department by analyzing the product, the conditions, T&Cs, claims experience and the associated risks and thus determining the risk-adequate price.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation of technical quotations (under consideration of the group underwriting policy and sales strategy)
• Repricing of existing business for renewal and renegotiations
• Claims performance control and development of methods and measures to improve claims performance if needed
• Loss ratio monitoring of key accounts on a regular basis
• Profit share calculations
• Bachelor/master in economics/statistics/mathematics/law or alike with relevant subjects
• Language skills: German, English (spoken and written)
• Working experience in the insurance or finance sector, within one of the following functions: Underwriting, sales administration or finance is of advantage, but not mandatory
• Ability to understand and work with legal documents such as insurance terms and conditions and contractual wordings
• Good knowledge of office applications and high level of Excel
