Lever, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Node.js/Python) based in France to lead backend and AI-enabled systems for a cutting-edge mobility platform. You will design, develop, and operate reliable web services and APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, and Python.

You will own architectural decisions, build scalable distributed systems, and collaborate with AI, product, frontend, QA, DevOps, and partners to deliver business value. Strong English communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience designing, building, and operating production-grade web services.
• Strong CS fundamentals and understanding of concurrency and algorithms.
• Experience with distributed systems and challenges of distributed computing.
• Proficiency with Node.js and TypeScript; experience with Express or NestJS.
• Production-grade RESTful APIs design including versioning, auth, rate limiting, and pagination.
• Knowledge of scalable architectures (microservices, event-driven, CQRS).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes; CI/CD in modern pipelines.
• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL or MySQL; performance optimization.
• Professional English communication; documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Experience deploying services on AWS (Lambda, ECS/EKS, RDS, SQS, CloudWatch) is a strong plus.
• Python backend development is highly desirable.
• NoSQL knowledge (MongoDB) is an advantage.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Node.js/Python) based in France.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help build the backend and AI-enabled systems powering an innovative technology platform in the electric mobility space. You will design, develop, and operate reliable web services and APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, and Python. The role combines hands‑on engineering with architectural ownership, distributed systems, and scalable backend development. You will work closely with AI engineers to operationalize AI solutions and integrate them into production‑ready services. Collaboration spans product, frontend, QA, DevOps, and external partners in a fast‑moving, highly integrated environment. You will also influence technical standards, mentor colleagues, and continuously improve engineering practices and processes.

Accountabilities:

• Design, develop, maintain, and operate scalable web services and APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, Python, and other specialized technologies where appropriate.

• Take ownership of AI-based backend solutions and work closely with AI engineers to operationalize Python-based AI tools within production Node.js and Python services.

• Make high‑level architecture and technical decisions while balancing scalability, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.

• Build and maintain production‑grade RESTful APIs, applying best practices for authentication, versioning, rate limiting, pagination, and service reliability.

• Develop robust distributed systems and scalable architectures using patterns such as microservices, event‑driven architecture, and CQRS.

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues with urgency while maintaining system stability and service quality.

• Establish and enforce coding standards that promote clean, concise, stable, maintainable, and extensible code.

• Collaborate closely with AI, product, frontend, QA, DevOps, and external partners to deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.

• Own and prioritize the technical backlog, ensuring transparency, clear priorities, and alignment across stakeholders.

• Continuously evaluate technologies, tools, and engineering approaches to identify opportunities for improved speed, reliability, and product outcomes.

• Contribute to process improvements by challenging existing workflows and introducing more effective engineering practices.

• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and ensure clear, effective communication across the team in English.

• Mentor and support engineers by sharing knowledge, providing feedback, and acting as a technical role model.

• Foster an open, collaborative, and feedback‑driven engineering culture focused on continuous learning and improvement.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of professional experience designing, building, and operating production‑grade web services.

• Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, complexity, concurrency, and related concepts.

• Extensive experience with distributed systems and a strong understanding of the challenges associated with distributed computing.

• Advanced proficiency with Node.js and TypeScript, together with experience using server‑side frameworks such as Express or NestJS.

• Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining production‑grade RESTful APIs.

• Strong knowledge of API versioning, authentication, rate limiting, pagination, and other API design best practices.

• Proven expertise in scalable architecture patterns, including microservices, event‑driven systems, and CQRS.

• Hands‑on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.

• Solid SQL expertise, including database schema design, indexing, migrations, and performance optimization using PostgreSQL or MySQL.

• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose complex technical challenges.

• Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

• Experience deploying and operating services on AWS, including technologies such as Lambda, ECS/EKS, RDS, SQS, and CloudWatch, is a strong advantage.
