Job summary

Sotheby’s France is seeking a Lead Specialist in sculpture to drive Paris and European sales, drawing on a postgraduate art history background and a senior role within Sotheby’s renowned global sculpture team.

You will coordinate with the Worldwide Head and the European Head, oversee consignments, cataloguing and research, and lead client valuations, events, and auction activities while ensuring compliance with Sotheby’s policies.

Qualifications

Postgraduate degree in art history with focus on European sculpture.
Experience in high-level European sculpture marketplace.
Proven client-facing track record.
Fluency in English and French; reading ability in Italian and/or German.

Responsibilities

Lead/oversee sculpture sales in Paris in line with France/Europe strategy.
Supervise appraisal of artworks and guidance on consignments/sales.
Oversee research/cataloguing and prepare notes in French and English.
Prepare inventories, proposals and business opportunities.
Oversee property management and interaction with admin/ops.
Ensure smooth day-to-day department operations.
Lead promotion of works and support auction activities, including telephone bidding.
Develop and maintain client relationships in Paris and across France/Europe.
Organise events to develop departmental business and promote works.
