Equipment / Senior Equipment Technician

Renfrew based with occasional site deployments required

The Asset Management Team at Altrad Babcock are currently looking for a RVI Equipment Technician or Senior Equipment Technician to join us to support the management, maintenance and future development of Remote Operations equipment within Asset Management.

We are looking for a diligent, detail oriented, professional and hardworking individual with a background in equipment management / storekeeping or EC&I and with excellent IT skills. Good communication / writing and organisational skills are a requirement of the role. Experience in the Nuclear Sector, radiological protection, camera / RVI inspection and PAT testing are an advantage.

The role is based at our Renfrew facility, with occasional site deployment (including some extended outage deployment), and occasional international travel.

Requirements and Qualifications :
  • Qualified to HNC or higher, or min. 5 years experience working as a technician or tradesperson in a technical or mechanical role.
  • Experience or qualification either in Equipment Management or in EC&I engineering. PAT testing qualification desirable.
  • Excellent IT skills. Experience in asset management software, script / macro writing, advanced Excel skills are desirable.
  • Excellent strategic and organisational abilities, resourcefulness and a capability for problem solving. Ability to troubleshoot and creatively resolve upcoming issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail and procedural awareness. Prioritising workload and managing multiple workstreams. Ability to delegate and supervise responsibilities.
  • Maintain appropriate communications with clients, peers, other experts, management and stakeholders. Good written and verbal communication skills, ability to compile, review and audit technical documents, procedures and reports.
  • Excellent health and safety record and a commitment to ensuring everyone in the workplace works to the highest QHSE standards.
  • Willingness to travel and flexible work hours, including occasional shift and weekend work (overtime payments available). Full UK Driving license is beneficial.
  • Beneficial qualifications : RPS / HP training, Nuclear security clearance (CTC or SC), IOSH Managing Safely. Membership in a professional institution is encouraged.
  • Leadership skills and capability to coach and develop junior technicians to a high standard of expertise.

Candidates will be evaluated based on capability and experience and may be offered a role at Technician or Senior Technician level.
