Job summary

AVENTA is seeking a Senior Project Operations Engineer to support the operational scope of a pipelay vessel on a major offshore project. The role involves coordinating logistics, mobilisation, testing and readiness activities, with travel to Angola and integration with client teams.

The successful candidate will have an engineering degree and 6+ years in offshore operations, including hands-on pipelay mobilisation, and strong communication and regulatory knowledge.

Job description

For one of our clients, a major international EPCI contractor, we are looking for a Senior Project Operations Engineer to join their project operations team on a major offshore project in Angola. Reporting to the Project Operations Manager, you will support the planning, management and execution of the operational scope of a strategic pipelay installation vessel and its associated support spread, from readiness through offshore execution and demobilisation.

What you will do

• Support the Project Operations Manager in delivering the operational scope of the pipelay vessel, working independently with limited supervision
• Develop the marine logistics and vessel support strategy, integrating the auxiliary fleet (PSVs, pipe carriers, cargo barges and other support vessels) to maximise offshore productivity
• Lead the vessel mobilisation and readiness strategy, addressing local logistics, customs, immigration and marine regulatory requirements in Angola
• Coordinate and support testing, commissioning and readiness activities for the pipelay vessel and associated installation systems, up to Client acceptance
• Manage vessel manning and POB definition, and follow up chartered vessel audits, HSE and emergency planning
• Coordinate mobilisation and demobilisation of the assigned spread, including yard activities, load-out sequencing and subcontracted personnel
• Mentor and support Project Operations Engineers assigned to the project
• Interface with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Marine and Client teams throughout the project lifecycle

What you bring

• Engineering degree or equivalent
• 6+ years of relevant experience in the offshore industry, including offshore operations
• Proven hands‑on experience in pipelay installation vessel mobilisation on board is mandatory
• Strong understanding of offshore installation operations and project execution
• Good knowledge of logistics, customs, immigration and importation/exportation regulations
• Strong ability to synthesise information, with solid communication and organisational skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and work independently
• Willing and able to travel to Angola
• Fluent English, written and spoken

What we offer

A long-term contract assignment within a major EPCI contractor's project operations team. Based in their Paris office (minimum 3 days per week on site), with missions to Angola as required.
