Hugging Face is building an open voice-agent stack and seeks a senior engineer to own a large portion of it. You will lead the open-source library for speech-to-speech and design hf-voice APIs while ensuring scalable, real-time performance.

You will also write docs, contribute to demos, and collaborate with multiple teams to move from a public demo to production-ready solutions. This role emphasizes autonomous ownership, strong Python skills, and a passion for voice AI.

Qualifications

• Open-source contributions to Python libraries; comfortable with async Python and distributed systems.
• Shipped real-time systems: streaming, WebSockets or WebRTC, audio or video pipelines, live inference.
• Experience building developer-facing infrastructure at an AI or developer-tools company: inference APIs, agent infrastructure.
• Strong written communication and ability to collaborate asynchronously and publicly.
• Motivated by voice and conversational AI.
• Familiarity with LLMs or multimodal models in production.

Responsabilités

• Own large parts of speech-to-speech: architecture ownership, latency budget, realtime loop reliability.
• Integrate new ASR/TTS models and keep abstractions clean amid changing model landscape.
• Review community PRs, triage issues, cut releases, grow contributors.
• Design API and streaming protocol for hf-voice; build serving side with realtime inference on GPUs.
• Collaborate with Hub and inference teams to ease integration into products and demos.
• Take product from demo to production with load testing and SLOs.
