Role
Medical Writer: provide in-depth knowledge and comprehensive writing skills with expertise in writing across all promotional/non‑promotional tactics.
Responsibilities
- In depth analysis of peer‑reviewed scientific publications to help develop medical‑strategic recommendations and communication materials for our Global and region Europe clients.
- Write and develop medical and scientific communication tools for print and digital media (HCP sales aids and brochures websites patient leaflets slide decks for sales reps or for KOL webinars videosetc.) (promotional, nonpromotional and medical education).
- Maintain consistency of message / strategy involving the following tasks: write headlines, subheads and body copy / work with an art director to ensure / work is visually and scientifically relevant / suggest ways for the Art Director to graphically present the data.
- Work occasionally closely with the creative team to generate powerful ideas conceptually, tactically and even strategically at times.
- Ensure scientific accuracy & quality of documents as well as their regulatory compliance.
- Develop discussion guides to interview experts healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders.
- Attend client meetings and presentations where work is discussed and can speak to his / her work.
- Work with the client to explore / incorporate suggestions and directives resolving questions concerns and overcoming objections.
- Attend medical / legal / regulatory committee reviews (depending on client) and is able to defend and support copy choices when challenged.
- Participate in generating background research when required for new clients or new business.
- Support other accounts and writers where needed and when time allows.
Qualifications
- Educational background: Advanced degree (MS or PhD) with a background in biology, pharmacy or medicine. A marketing and communication specialization is appreciated.
- Preferred 4‑5 years of experience in pharmaceutical advertising writing.
- English: native or fluent level mandatory. French: intermediate level preferred.
- Must be able to write copy in English that is concise, clear, referenceable and creative / displays good sentence structure / reveals a good sense of composition and logical flow of ideas / is grammatically correct / has no spelling errors.
Skills
- Good attention to detail: copy checked by editorial should be left largely unmodified.
- Contribute conceptually to the agency in addition to writing both light and technical pieces.
- Exhibits willingness and an open‑minded attitude toward copy critique and effectively incorporates suggestions and improvements to copy.
- Good command of referencing and footnoting.
- Forge relationships and work well with agency members as well as the client.
- Demonstrate knowledge of agency copy and editorial processes.
- Produce accurate and timely work with limited supervision.
- Good presentation skills.
- Demonstrate creative thinking and problem solving to meet clients needs.
