Job summary

Sargent & Lundy, a leading nuclear engineering firm, offers a hybrid Mechanical Designer role combining office and remote work. You will develop 3D mechanical layouts, coordinate the detailed design with multi-disciplinary teams, and mentor junior drafters.

The position requires an associate degree in drafting (or equivalent) with 10+ years in mechanical design, strong 3D tooling skills, and experience reviewing equipment outlines and interfaces.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in drafting or a high school diploma with 1+ years drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• Ten or more years of detailed physical design experience in mechanical general arrangements, piping systems and supports.
• Proficiency with design software tools for executing 3D plant layout models.
• Experience reviewing mechanical equipment outlines/interfaces and coordinating related deliverables.
• Ability to interface with engineering/design teams across disciplines in power plant design.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical general arrangement drawings and piping isometrics in 3D.
• Lead the mechanical design team and coordinate detailed design phases.
• Guide designers and project team members to ensure complete and timely designs.
• Plan and execute deliverables such as general arrangements, piping isometrics, supports, and equipment locations.
• Possibility of field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.
