Mercury is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer in Paris to lead and coordinate building services designs for data centre projects, from concept to handover. You will review submittals, engage with consultants and vendors, and ensure alignment with project specs and standards.

The role requires 5–8 years in mechanical design within mission-critical environments, strong BIM skills, and ability to mentor junior engineers. French language capability is advantageous for France projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (BEng/BSc) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related discipline.
• Professionally qualified or actively working towards Chartered Engineer status (Engineers Ireland, IMechE, CIBSE or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of mechanical building services systems and applicable European and international standards.

Responsabilités

• Develop, review and coordinate mechanical building services designs for data centre projects from concept through detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Support the production and review of mechanical design deliverables including drawings, specifications, technical submittals, calculations and equipment schedules.
• Coordinate with consultants, specialist vendors, subcontractors and internal project teams to ensure design compliance and timely delivery of design information.
• Review consultant and vendor design information to ensure compliance with client requirements, project specifications and applicable codes and standards.
• Assist with the preparation and management of RFIs, technical queries and design change requests throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and comment on mechanical technical submittals, shop drawings and material approvals prior to issue to the client and design team.
• Participate in multidisciplinary design coordination meetings and BIM reviews to identify and resolve design clashes and interface issues.
• Support the development and maintenance of mechanical asset registers, equipment schedules and design trackers.
• Work closely with procurement teams to ensure equipment selection aligns with project specifications, technical requirements and programme milestones.
• Evaluate alternative technical solutions and contribute to value engineering initiatives while maintaining system reliability and performance requirements.
• Assist site teams with technical support during installation, testing and commissioning activities.
• Participate in FAT, SAT, IST and commissioning activities as required.
• Support the preparation and review of O&M documentation, as-built drawings and project closeout deliverables.
• Monitor design deliverables against project programme requirements and proactively identify risks to design, procurement and construction activities.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, CSA, controls and commissioning teams to ensure coordinated project delivery.
• Provide mentoring and technical guidance to graduate and junior engineers where required.
• Support tender reviews, technical bid evaluations and pre-construction engineering activities for new projects.
